Unless you live under a rock, you've probably heard of Inktober. It is probably the most popular monthly drawing challenge out there! Started by Jake Parker in 2009, it has exploded on the internet with both pro and beginner artists participating. The rules are simple: Create an ink drawing each day of October and post it online with the hashtags #inktober and #inktober2017. Even if you don't think you can do an inked drawing every day, you can do a "half-marathon" by posting every other day, or even the "5k" route and post once week. Jake Parker insists that it doesn't matter which level you decide to do, as long as you are consistent. He states, "INKtober is about growing and improving and forming positive habits, so the more you're consistent the better." Like any of these challenges, the end goal is to get motivated to draw! It doesn't matter how good or bad you are, use these sorts of challenges to get excited about practicing and maybe learn some new techniques!
I'm planning on doing the full 31 day marathon this year, which I'll post in weekly bunches on here, but you can also follow my Twitter for daily updates!
Who is going to try to do the full 31 days with me this year? Share your favorite inktober pieces in the comments or tag me with them on Twitter! I want to see what you create!
