Sometimes in the evenings, I like to take a break from the grindstone and work on personal art. A lot of times this art doesn't start off with any idea, or will change so much that you wouldn't even know what my original thought was! This sketch is no different!
I was originally inspired to draw something for this month's Character Design Challenge, which is Robots and Androids! Robots are definitely outside of my comfort zone, so I thought it would be a fun thing to push myself with. Well, I ended up with this cute little guy instead.... oops!
I started off with the bean shape for his main body and then added on the legs and arms. When I realized my bean looked a bit floaty, it was a no-brainer to turn it into an astronaut! My love of retro sci-fi themes shines through with the ridiculous bubble helmet and impractical body suit.
The colors I have in my head for this guy are a grey and red body suit and maybe and orange tabby fur. What do you think? What color combo would you pick? Let me know in the comments!
My Halloween cards are back this year after a few year hiatus! This year I want to get them professionally printed, so the quality will be better than ever! Because I want to get them printed, I will have to cut off the sign-ups by October 6th. This should give me plenty of time to order them and then mail them anywhere in the world so they will get to you by October 31!
Each card is basically a free, small print of my original art, with a handwritten note on the inside! Like a Christmas card, but for Halloween! It's a surprise what the art will be, but it will be NEW for this year!
To have a card mailed to you, simply send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org with your physical mailing address. I'll mail the cards out around October 19 so keep an eye out after then! If you are outside of the US, please make sure to format your address exactly how it should be written on the envelope to make sure it gets to you! (I have had issues in the past with some overseas cards never arriving, so be sure everything is correct!)
If you want to help out with the cost of printing and stamps, I am accepting donations via either my Ko-fi (https://ko-fi.com/dragonmelde) or directly to my Paypal (email@example.com). Everyone who donates will get an extra special sketch in your card! Please let me know in the Paypal/Ko-Fi comments that it's for Halloween and include your character's ref if you want. Every dollar helps!
Oof that move and settling in took longer than expected, and I still don't have a shiny new desk yet, but I'll be working anyway! Yay for counters!
I am OPEN for commissions! Now with no moving delays lol!
Check out prices on my website here: http://www.dragonmelde.com/commissions.html
Shoot me a message on here or on Telegram with any questions. Email if you're interested in a commission :D
Ko-fi is still running! I haven't had any donations yet, but my offer for a doodle for a random donor each week still stands! This might be a cheap way to get art! See my Ko-fi for more details! https://www.ko-fi.com/dragonmelde
And hopefully there will be a return of my Protogen Z0D1AC adopts soon! I have some great ideas for the rest of the signs. Keep an eye out on here or on Twitter for updates!
